Report on "Blender for Dental: IBAR-Based Composite Crown Design Training

Date: February 22, 2025

Training Type: Webinar

Scope and Purpose of the Training

As Mash Academy, we organized the webinar "Blender for Dental: IBAR-Based Composite Crown Design Training" for dental technicians and dentists, focusing on innovative approaches in digital dentistry and hybrid prosthesis design supported by IBAR. The primary goal of this training was to provide participants with both theoretical and practical foundations of IBAR design, enabling them to effectively utilize digital technology in dental prosthesis design.

Training Content and Applications

The webinar was moderated by Himmet Can Başer from the 3Mash team and conducted by Oğuzhan Şahiner. Participants were given a detailed explanation of the IBAR design process, the effective use of the Blender for Dental software, and the digital workflow of hybrid prosthesis design.

1. Fundamentals of IBAR Design

  • The advantages and design principles of IBAR-supported prostheses were discussed.
  • STL format data sets were imported into the Blender for Dental software and optimized.
  • Participants were provided with fundamental knowledge on IBAR cutting techniques and bar prosthesis design.

2. Digital Prosthesis Design and Modeling

  • Participants gained hands-on experience with IBAR design using Blender for Dental.
  • Common design errors that can lead to faulty production and their solutions were explained in detail.
  • Key aspects such as determining cement space, cutting strategies, and designing support structures were emphasized.

3. Clinical Applications and Technical Details

  • The applications of IBAR design in rehabilitation cases were discussed.
  • The differences between digital and conventional approaches in prosthesis design were evaluated.
  • Important factors such as color matching, surface treatments, and material selection were highlighted.

Participant Feedback and Learning Outcomes

At the end of the training, participants enhanced their knowledge and skills in IBAR design, gaining increased awareness of the digital workflow in prosthesis design. Thanks to the knowledge they acquired, particularly regarding the use of Blender for Dental and the details of IBAR design, they expressed confidence in utilizing digital technologies more effectively at every stage of prosthesis design.

Conclusion and Future Plans

By the end of the webinar, it was observed that interest in IBAR design continued to grow, leading to the decision to plan more advanced training sessions in this field. As Mash Academy, we remain committed to providing the latest updates in digital dentistry to dental technicians and dentists.
